Cathy has served on the VBA Board of Governors since 2017, representing the Blue Ridge Region. The VBA is the independent voice of the Virginia lawyer, advancing the highest ideals of the profession through advocacy and volunteer service.
Cathy Welsh Named Director Emeritus of Blue Ridge Community College Foundation Board
Cathy served two six year terms on the BRCC Foundation Board, ending her term as Chair of the Board in 2018. On September 27, 2019, it was announced that the BRCC Foundation Board named her a director emeritus of the Board.

Richard Howard-Smith Elected President of the Charlottesville Albemarle Bar Association (CABA)
Richard began a one year term as CABA President on July 1st. CABA, currently in its 103rd year, is Virginia's largest all volunteer Bar Association, with approximately 400 members. CABA’s mission is to preserve and improve the legal profession and its services to the people of the Charlottesville-Albemarle community. Richard follows his law partners Page Williams, David Pettit, Ralph Feil (deceased), and Fred Wood (deceased) in this Bar and community service.
