Flora Pettit is Seeking a Full-Time Highly Motivated Real Estate/Transactional Legal Assistant for its Charlottesville Office
Flora Pettit PC, a Central Virginia law firm, seeks a full-time, highly motivated Real Estate/Transactional Legal Assistant with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and experience in commercial and residential real estate documentation and transactions for its Charlottesville office located on the Downtown Mall.
Primary responsibilities include assisting firm attorneys and other real estate team members by:
Contacting realtors, lenders, insurers and clients to gather sale, purchase and loan closing information and other pre-closing tasks.
Ordering and organizing title searches and surveys.
Preparing and maintaining checklists.
Assisting attorneys in reviewing and analyzing title and survey documents and preparing related documents.
Preparing drafts of transactional and financial documents for client execution and insuring readiness for closing of transactions, including accounting for and disbursement of client funds.
Recording deeds, deeds of trust, and other instruments, and handling title search updates prior to recordation as needed.
Handling post-closing matters, including delivery of documents and checks, verifying lien releases and file maintenance.
Assisting with other business and corporate transactional matters.
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated ability to provide accurate and detailed work product are required; prior law firm employment is strongly preferred.
Experience with title examination, drafting real estate closing documents is preferred, but not required.
Excellent word processing, organization, oral and written communication and proofreading skills required.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is a must.
Experience with SoftPro, Simplifile and Clerk’s Office research tools helpful.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and clients is essential.
Understanding and maintaining client confidentiality and information safeguarding.
