Attorney Matt Von Schuch Joins Lenhart Pettit

Lenhart Pettit is pleased to announce that Matthew Von Schuch has joined the law firm as a shareholder in its Harrisonburg office effective August 6, 2018.  In addition to his law degree, Matt is a Certified Public Accountant.  Before returning to the Valley to practice law in 2012, Matt was a trial attorney in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice where he served as the IRS’s lawyer in tax cases before federal courts throughout the country.  Matt is the recipient of several honors from the U.S. Department of Justice and the IRS. 

Given his background, Matt focuses his private practice in the areas of taxation of individuals, non-profits, and businesses. In addition to providing tax planning services, Matt counsels businesses and their owners on matters relating to formation, acquisitions, sales, mergers, succession planning. He also provides estate planning and administration advice to individuals. Since returning to private practice in 2012, Matt has been selected for inclusion in Virginia Business' Legal Elite listing as well as named a Virginia Rising Star by Super Lawyers, Thomson Reuters.

In addition to his professional activities, his community involvement currently includes serving on the board of the Explore More Discovery Museum; the Harrisonburg Education Foundation, the Advisory Board of JMU’s Forbes Center; and on the planned giving committee of the RMH Foundation.  Matt is a past-president of the Bridgewater Rotary Club and is an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
